Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'...Michael,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I've enjoyed many of the Hex stories in the past few years, but feel he works best in his own setting.

It's been a while since I've re-read many of the old Hex comics. I only have a few of the originals. My brother had them in his collection but sold them years ago, so it might be worthwhile for me to pick up the Showcase issues.

Nick Caputohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05096100224095280865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2089733759263636022.post-85504697344125531622013-11-01T21:08:10.646-04:002013-11-01T21:08:10.646-04:00I've been pretty happy with the modern Hex boo...I've been pretty happy with the modern Hex books. Even the Gotham and modern era settings still works as long as Jonah remains Jonah. As long as he remains teue to who he is, he could probably work in a sitcom. Besides, the image of him on a motorcycle really does kinda work. Gives him a chance to meet John Constantine as well. See who is comic's biggest bast**d. :-)

I don't think it will last too long. Jimmy and Justin's 100th Hex story will be with All-Star #29 next spring. There's a lot of changes coning to DC that month. Wouldn't be shocked if this story ended then.

It has inspired me to read the older issues. I found a complete run of All-Star/Weird recently. It's funny how little Jonah Hex has changed.

Really looking forward to more classic Hex next spring ng with the second Showcase volume. Gonna be a lot cheaper than finding those single issues.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2089733759263636022.post-83048326839947288692013-11-01T15:55:27.639-04:002013-11-01T15:55:27.639-04:00pertaining to the use of the word "weird"...pertaining to the use of the word "weird" in the title:

comics code General Standards Part B, Section 1 states:
"No comic magazine shall use the word horror or terror in the it's title. These words may be used judiciously in the body of the magazine"

There is no mention of the word "weird", however, I am using the code as printed in Charlton's "The Comic Book Guide For The Artist-Writer-Letterer" as reference, which was published in 1973, and it's entirely possible this was after the revisions had taken effect.
Professor Festerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07353553659718073177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2089733759263636022.post-49825699874051096252013-11-01T14:31:41.245-04:002013-11-01T14:31:41.245-04:00Kid,

I don't purchase as many old comics as I used to, but find so many genre comics fascinating.

And even if I had access to them all, where would I have the time to read them? As Burgess Meredith in the role of Henry Bemis said in "Time Enough at Last":

"It's not fair..It's just not fair.."
